TORONTO, Canada, September 4, 2012 – Sony Pictures Television (SPT)’s Sony Movie Channel and AXN Movies launch today exclusively in Canada on Hollywood Suite as part of Hollywood Suite’s four HD movie channels.

Sony Movie Channel is SPT’s movie network created specifically for the Hollywood movie fan, featuring award-winning films, cult favorites, family comedies and gripping dramas, while AXN Movies delivers high octane, edge-of-your-seat movies.

Sony Movie Channel will feature such award-winning films as A FEW GOOD MEN, STAND BY ME, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, GANDHI, FIVE EASY PIECES, THIS IS SPINAL TAP and THE BIG CHILL. With access to Sony Pictures’ vast library of feature films, Sony Movie Channel offers a variety of programming selected from more than 3,500 Sony Pictures movies, which collectively have received 184 Academy Awards including 12 for Best Picture. Among Sony Pictures’ string of blockbuster films are two of this summer’s hottest franchises, THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN and MEN IN BLACK III. Sony Movie Channel is also available in the US and UK.

Premiering on Hollywood Suite:

THE STATION AGENT at 8:10pm on September 8th on Sony Movie Channel starring Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and Patricia Clarkson who also stars in VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA on September 9th at 9:15pm on Sony Movie Channel.

VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA not only stars the aforementioned Patricia Clarkson but Penelope Cruz who won multiple awards, including an Oscar for her role as the crazy girlfriend of now real life husband, Javier Bardem.  The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson ( catch her again this month on Sony Movie Channel in LOST IN TRANSLATION  on September 21st at 7:15pm) and Rebecca Hall also stars as Christina and Vicky respectively but this was not their first movie together- it was THE PRESTIGE coming to Sony Movie Channel in October.

Premiering on Hollywood Suite:

THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND  at 9:00pm on August  5 on Hollywood Storm  based on the novel by Robert Ludlum starring Rutger Hauer, Burt Lancaster (who also stars in ATLANTIC CITY premiering at 7:10pm on August  19 on Hollywood Festival) and Chris Sarandon ( first husband of Susan Sarandon who also stars in ATLANTIC CITY).

World renowned Fashion Designer Tom Ford directed his first movie the award winning A SINGLE MAN  premiering  at 9:05pm on August 24 on Hollywood Festival. Jon Hamm (star of Mad Men) has an un-credited role as the voice who calls Colin Firth. Also look for Jon Hamm in his very first movie role in SPACE COWBOYS at 3:00pm on August 10 on WarnerFilms.

Vin Diesel (Mark Sinclair Vincent) stars in two movies premiering this month on Hollywood Suite A MAN APART at 10:15pm on August 12 on Hollywood Storm and BOILER ROOM at 9:15pm on August 24 on WarnerFilms.
