TORONTO - Four specialty movie channels are joining the dial in time for those lazy holiday afternoons.
Known collectively as Hollywood Suite, the HD channels began commercial-free broadcasts to the Maritimes and Prairie provinces over the past two weeks.
They include the MGM Channel, showcasing films from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer library; WarnerFilms, drawing from Warner titles; Hollywood Storm, focusing on action films; and Hollywood Festival, which features romance and relationship films.
Hollywood Suite president David Kines says the channels are available in about 25 per cent of the country at an add-on cost of $5 to $6 a month, depending on the local provider.
He says negotiations are ongoing to bring it to the rest of Canada.
Current providers include EastLink, TELUS Optik TV, SaskTel MAX and MTS TV. A two-month freeview ends Feb. 19.
